A Little Bit About Me, Hopefully your Future Personal Trainer.
I have been an Athlete my whole life. I was an Elite gymnast when I was younger. I absolutely loved everything about gymnastics. When I was around 19yrs old I became a USG Gymnastics Coach and I loved coaching young gymnasts just starting all the way to Elite Competing Gymnasts.
That was a HUGE Passion of mine! Especially watching a gymnast I personally coached win Gold at a competition. It made me feel like I won.
I ended up getting married and having 3 beautiful children. I was a stay at home mom from the day they were born, but I told myself when our kids were in school I wanted something for myself I just didn't know what that was at the time.
As we all know, well as women know is your body just isn't the same after having a baby or babies.
I personally had very bad Diastasis Recti which is when your abdominal wall (Muscles) basically opens up or separates to make room for your growing baby during pregnancy.
After having my last 2 kids a little over 2yrs apart I could literally put my fist in the middle of my stomach. There are only 2 ways to fix this. The easy, painful & Very expensive way is surgery or strategic core workouts. I chose working out. I was NOT paying a plastic surgeon 10k+ to sew up my abdominal muscles.
I started my Fitness journey in 2019. I started working out in a gym, NO IDEA what I was doing. I started out with group classes, while fun and on the easier side it didn't give me the results I wanted. Then I started watching other people in the gym to kinda get a idea of what to do. It was very up & down. I would go for a month then quit, 3 months later I would go for another month and quit because I just didn't know what the hell I was doing.
In Sept 2020 is when I FINALLY put my foot down and said this is it, I am either going to stick with this and get into shape or just be unhappy & unhealthy for the rest of my life.
As we get older it becomes harder and takes longer to get into shape. So I worked out 5 or 6 days a week. Using the Elliptical for Cardio, Dumbells, bands & Cables for Strength training. I started to see results within 6 weeks and I became hooked!
We have a Seasonal campsite in another town from May to Oct, So once the kids are out of school we basically live there and I didn't want to commit to a gym (memberships are yearly) when I only needed it for a few months. So I did not know what to do. I ended up buying a Yoga mat, bands & some dumbells and watched & learned from women on YouTube. In that one summer I got into better shape than 2 years at the gym. Insane RIGHT!!!
A few reasons behind my great results was first off research, learning I dont need an Elliptical or treadmill for cardio and that Hiit cardio & Hiit strength training was a much more fun way to trim weight down and build lean muscle, learning that you can't choose where you lose fat, knowing that you shouldn't workout the same muscle groups such as biceps 2 days in a row, because muscles need to rest & heal, learning that measuring yourself every few weeks can show you your results more than a scale can.
A VERY Important one YOU NEED to have is Correct form for each movement or your just wasting your time or its going to take 3x as long to see results & The Most important one in my opinion is Muscle mind connection. That is you completely focus your mind on the muscle or muscles your working on during each rep. It's about "feeling" the muscle working through each rep rather than just going through the motions of an exercise.
I am almost done I promise haha!
I Absolutely fell in Love with everything to do with Fitness & Nutrition. I was actually helping "training" friends, family & even giving advice to strangers if they asked me a question.
I knew I wanted to become a Certified Personal Trainer & Nutritionist.
I spent months doing research on all different schools online to get certified. I didn't just want my certification, I wanted the BEST one. I did not want to end up working in a gym and begging for clients. That is what I saw when I was working out in the gym. They had new trainers in there at least every few weeks and the others quit. I am not saying you cannot succeed in a gym as a Personal trainer but it can be harder.
So I ended up getting my Certification with The National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) National Academy of Sports Medicine. There is only about 73,000 #NASM Certified Personal Trainers in the country.
The training that is involved is nothing I expected. I actually felt like I was training to be a Doctor haha, because it goes so indepth, way beyond just showing someone how to do a squat. Lol
So here I am now, Starting my Dream Business #143fit . I am in the process of building my website, but that doesn't mean you can't start your Fitness Journey now! I am here!
